Cape Town film industry still flying in 2016

Mobile cranes holding lighting at a film setLast year we reported on the boom in the Cape Town film industry, and we are happy to see that the trend is continuing.

According to Times Live*, a number of international movies and series are being filmed in locations around the city. These include Black Sails, Dominion, Wallander, Grand Theft Auto, Detour, Honey 3 and Odyssee. We’ve also just heard that the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is being filmed in Cape Town.

All these movie sets need cranes and lifting equipment – and that’s where we fit in. Our telehandlers make regular appearances on local film sets and we’ve developed a reputation for being able to create specialised telehandler attachments for unique and unusual film jobs. For instance, our custom-built camera platform can carry a Supertechno camera crane and crew , giving incredible reach for really creative shots.

The featured image above shows our telehandlers holding up lighting at an outdoor film set and our camera platform doubling as a stunt platform. Every day there’s a new challenge on set, and we’re happy to be a part of it.
