Pitching a tent for the Theatre of Dreams

Telehandler setting up tent for madame zingara in Cape Town

Madame Zingara is back in town – and we’re helping her get set up

Madame Zingara is famous for her “Theatre of Dreams” events, and there’s a new show starting in Cape Town in July. It’s called The Celebration:

“Thirty-five electrifying artists from around the world unite to push the boundaries of dinner cirque theatre in a three-storey high handcrafted mirrored palace.”

That ‘mirrored palace’ is the tent you can see us setting up on Cape Town’s Grand Parade. We are using a Manitou MRT 21.50 telehandler with personnel cage attachment. The cage can be manoeuvred by remote control from operators in the cage, enabling us to make the fine movements that this kind of task requires.

The tent is one of the last remaining antique mirror tents in the world. Tents like this became popular in Europe in the early 1900s where they were used as travelling dance halls.

We enjoyed being part of the team on setting up this event and look forward to seeing the show! Tickets are on sale now: www.madamezingara.com.

OK, and we can’t resist also showing a photo of the tent interior from a previous show:
